The RASart Exhition of Ecellemnce runs to 11th June

at the Redcliffe City Gallery.

Open to the public and entry is free.

Thursday (19/5/11) night at The Redcliffe City Art Gallery saw the opening by Cr Rae Frawley of the Redcliffe Art Society’s RASart Excellence Exhibition for 2011. Cr Frawley recognised in her speech
that this was the beginning of celebrations for The Redcliffe Art Societies Golden Anniversary, 50 years of bringing an appreciation of the visual arts to Redcliffe, and a unique contribution to the Redcliffe City Art Collection. •                                    

The opening was attended by some 150 interested parties many of whom had works on display.

Bob Aldons speaks about Northstar’s involvement with the arts.

NORTHSTAR motor group owners and primary sponsors of the exhibition, Bob and Suzie Aldons were present. Bob Aldons made a short speech about his company’s increasing involvement with the local areas art community and Suzie Aldons presented the sponsors cheque of $1000 to the First prize winner Marcia Whyte with her work entitled “Medieval Fest (Caboolture)”. Second prize winner Heather Delaney with her work “At the yards” received her prize of $450.00 from joint sponsors Crs James Houghton and Rae Frawley while Third prize was Julie Wecker with her work “Amalfi Coast” received Toy’s Mufflers and Mechanical cheque from the RAS’s President John Pollack.
The individual medium prizes, highly commended and commended awards were presented by the RAS’s retiring Exhibitions manager Ruth Cowern, who also conveyed the judge’s comments to each winner. The Redcliffe City Galleries curator finished the speeches with a vote of thanks to the volunteers who installed and generally helped make the presentation of entries a success.
